f(x) = - x^2 + 6x -1

and

g(x)=3x^2 - 4x - 1


(f-g)(x) = - x^2 + 6x -1 -(3x^2 - 4x - 1)

(f-g)(x) = - x^2 + 6x -1 - 3x^2 + 4x + 1

(f-g)(x) = - 4x^2 + 10x
