the answer is going to be x=3.

Reason being is because if you do 2^3, which is 2*2*2, that is going to be 8. Once you get that you would multiply 5(8) which is going to be 40.
Hope this helps!

 Divide both sides by 5
2^x=40/5

Simplify 40/5  to 8
2^x=8

Convert both sides to the same base
2^x=2 to the power of 3 or (2^3)

Cancel the base of 2 on both sides
x=3
