what is the difference between an autopsy and an external examination​

An autopsy requires doing a v cut across the chest and going internally into the body cavity and examining the organs etc. A(n) external examination is done outside the body so like trace evidence under the fingernails and not requiring to cut across or make an incision across the chest and down the middle from the middle of the chest down.
