An equation is expressed in this form y=mx+ c when the gradient is important.And m is the gradient in the equation. In the equation y=-5/14x+107, -5/14 is the gradient. To get the original equation, multiply both sides by the lcm of the denominators which is14,i.e. each term.

y×14=-5/14x(14)+ 107×14

14y=-5x+1498
