Ted has to read a book that is 1000 pages long

he read 100 pages on Tuesday
On Wednesday, He read twice the number of pages that he read on  Tuesday
on Thursday he read 396 pages
how many more pages does he have to read?

so the solution would be 1000- (100+2(100)+396)=x find x
