The supreme court ruled in cases affecting the rights of Chinese immigrants by upholding the Chinese Exclusion Act. This was signed by President Chester A. Arthur on May 6, 1882. This restricted free immigration in the US not allowing Chinese laborers to migrate. Hope this helps.
