Could you determine the recursive rule or formula if you only knew the first two terms in a sequence?

I like these more advance math questions that come at 2:30am.

With only two terms, its hard to say.  I would say yes but then there that fibonacci sequences which if you were given 1, 1 you could not find out the next number unless you understood the third number
