y = kx is the direct variation equation with k being the "constant of variation"
The constant here being the conversion decimal .91
y = 0.91x

Hope this helps!

direct variation means that the equation is of the form y=kx

(and .91 is a lazy approximation when there is a simple exact conversion)

1yd(36in/yd)(2.54cm/in)(m/100cm)=k=91.44/100=.9144 (is exact :P) anyway.

y=0.9144x
