Cox and Dalrymple studied geomagnetic reversals in Owens Valley, California. This was within the subject of plate tectonics. They won many prizes for this. They were both geophysicists and Allan Cox himself wrote two books and hundreds of scientific essays regarding plate tectonics and won many awards for his work.
