3(2x + 4) = −6

Follow PEMDAS.

First, distribute 3 to all terms within the parenthesis

3(2x + 4) = 6x + 12

6x + 12 = -6

Isolate the x. Note the equal sign. What you do to one side, you do to the other. Do the opposite of PEMDAS.

6x + 12 (-12) = -6 (-12)

6x = -18

6x/6 = -18/6

x = -3

-3 is your answer for x

hope this helps
