A parallel line must have the same slope of the other one but a different y-intercept, so the other line must have the slope of -5/4. Since it has to pass through the point (-4,1), the y-intercept must be -4. The equation will be
y = -5/4x - 4.     If you put the coordinates (-4,1) into this equation to check, simplify it like this:
1 = -5/4(-4) - 4
Multiply -5/4 by -4
1 = 5 - 4
Subtract 4 from 5
1 = 1
So the equation is y = -5/4x - 4, hope this helps!
