A hernia in the groin area is called an Inguinal Hernia.
Inguinal hernias occur when parts of the abdomen bulge through weak areas in the lower abdominal wall. They can be pretty painful and may require surgery to repair them. My brother-in-law had one and he was miserable until he had it surgically repaired.
