Why do you think a pregnant woman needs more energy from food than a woman who is not pregnant?

The pregnant woman has another being inside her who is also using energy so she needs enough energy for her and her baby. The woman who is not pregnant only needs enough energy for herself.

The pregnant woman needs more energy from food for several reasons:
1) The baby needs food and energy
2) She needs energy and food herself
3) She needs extra energy so she can carry the baby properly in her tummy
