Newton's second law states that when a net force F is applied on an object of mass m, the object has an acceleration a given by the formula:
[tex]F=ma[/tex]
In our problem, we have a discus of m=5 kg, and a force of F=50 N is acting on it. So, the acceleration of the discus is
[tex]a= \frac{F}{m}= \frac{50 N}{5 kg}=10 m/s^2 [/tex]
