Phoroptor / refractor (automated)
The phoroptor is a device that has lenses with different strengths that can be placed into the patient’s view. The patient looks into the device and looks into an eye chart placed 20 feet away. The eye doctor will ask the patient will determine which lenses make the chart appear clear to the patient.
